During the most recent session, Nevada’s Legislature passed SB 327 which expands the concept of race discrimination to include discrimination against traits associated with race. This portion of SB 327 is Nevada’s version of The C.R.O.W.N. Act, seeking to protect individuals from discrimination because of their hair texture and/or protective hairstyles, such as “natural hairstyles, afros, bantu knots, curls, braids, locks and twists.” This bill applies to all employers (public and private) and schools.

The Nevada Equal Rights Commission (NERC) is hosting a free virtual Forum to educate employers and the community about the C.R.O.W.N. Act. Employers and school organizations are invited to attend the Forum on September 14. For more information and to register, click here.
