Reminder – Nevada Paid Leave Law Becomes Effective January 1, 2020

Volume: 18 | Issue: 22
December 9, 2019

Nevada’s new paid leave law becomes effective January 1, 2020. This law requires every private employer with at least 50 employees to provide paid leave to employees. In the fall, the Nevada Labor Commissioner issued an Advisory Opinion answering many of the questions we have fielded from clients since the law’s enactment. We encourage all employers to review the Advisory Opinion and to contact us with any remaining questions about your leave policies.

This might also be a good time to review the other new laws adopted by the Nevada Legislature this past summer, many of which become effective on January 1. These laws are summarized in Volume 18, Issue 10 of the KZA Employer Reports.
