NV Releases COVID-19 Press Bulletin

Volume: 20 | Issue: 75
December 8, 2021

Last week, the Nevada Health Response issued a Press Bulletin to review current facts, figures and information regarding COVID-19.

The Bulletin reviews current guidelines for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals who have symptoms or who have close contact with someone who has COVID-19. It also discusses the Omicron variant, current COVID-19 conditions compared with the 2020 holiday season, and COVID-19 vaccinations for children. The Bulletin states that although the vaccination mandate issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for larger employers has been stayed, “[t]he ruling does not prohibit individual businesses or organizations from implementing measures for their own employees, and across the nation, it has been shown that vaccine mandates move the needle on getting more employees vaccinated.” The Bulletin further explains that “[t]he indoor mask mandate regardless of vaccination status will continue throughout the holiday season and into the start of the new year.”

Finally, the Bulletin provides information regarding flu activity, flu strains, and this year’s flu vaccine. It states that flu vaccination rates are 27% lower this year than 2020 and that as of November 22, only approximately 18% of Nevadans were vaccinated against the flu.
