The U.S. Senate has narrowly confirmed attorney John Ring to fill the last remaining vacancy on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB or Board). On April 16, he was sworn in as the new Chairman of the Board for a term ending on December 16, 2022.

Mr. Ring is a management-side labor and employment attorney who practiced in Washington, D.C. He is a 1985 graduate of the Catholic University of America and a 1989 graduate of the Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law.

Mr. Ring’s confirmation solidifies a Republican majority on the Board and restores the Board to full operating strength. Under his leadership, employers should expect to see the Board continue to take a more balanced and common sense approach to labor relations.
