Important End Of Year Chore – Preserve Your E-Verify Records

If you began using E-Verify at least 10 years ago, you will want to take measures by December 31, 2019 to preserve your data. The U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that on January 2, 2020, it will dispose of E-Verify records that are more than 10 years old, which are those dated on or before December 31, 2009.

E-Verify employers have until December 31, 2019, to preserve their data by downloading a “Historic Records Report.” This report will set forth the company name and location; the initiated date and verification case number; the employee name and date of initial resolution; the date of additional resolution and final status; and the case closure date and case closure description. Finally, please note that this is an annual document destruction process. As such, downloading the Historic Records Report should become a yearly December chore for all employers using E-Verify.
