KZA’s founding partner, Gregg Kamer, is honored to again be serving as the Vice Chair of the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection this year. The Commission is composed of seven permanent members and two temporary members and includes the Supreme Court Chief Justice, three non-attorneys appointed by the Governor, and three attorneys appointed by the State Bar of Nevada.

In Nevada, judges are generally selected by the voters. However, when a sitting judge leaves his/her seat during a term, the Commission is empowered  by the Nevada Constitution to evaluate applicants for the open seat and recommend to the Governor three candidates for appointment to that seat. The appointed judge then runs for election during the next general election.

Ensuring quality judges are selected to serve is crucial to the integrity and efficiency of the Nevada judicial system. All parties, whether individuals or businesses, benefit when their case is heard by a judge who is capable, impartial, and ethical. KZA is thankful for Gregg’s commitment to the Commission’s important work.
