Governor Releases Guidance On Local Control Phase Of COVID-19 Plan

Volume: 20 | Issue: 17
March 9, 2021

On March 4, 2021, Governor Sisolak released initial guidance detailing how Nevada will transition certain COVID-19 mitigation measures to local authority in accord with the February Nevada Roadmap to Recovery Safe Reopening Plan.

Transition to local authority will occur in a phased approach beginning on May 1, 2021 at the earliest. The COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force will manage the transition plan through regularly scheduled meetings. Prior to May 1, each county is required to develop a plan in order to assume the authorities delegated to them by the Governor.

This new guidance is intended to provide a “planning outline and other considerations that local authorities must address in order for the transition to occur during this timeline.”
