Gregg Kamer Serving As Vice Chair Of The Nevada Commission On Judicial Selection
February 9, 2023
KZA’s founding partner, Gregg Kamer, is honored to be serving as the Vice Chair of the Nevada Commission On Judicial Selection this year. The Commission is composed of seven permanent members and two temporary members and includes the Supreme Court Chief Justice, as well as attorneys and non-attorneys appointed by the Nevada State Bar and the Governor.
In Nevada, judges are generally selected by the voters. However, when a sitting judge leaves his/her seat during a term, the Commission is empowered by the Nevada Constitution to evaluate applicants for the open seat and recommend to the Governor 3 candidates for appointment to that seat. The appointed judge then runs for election during the next general election.
Nevada currently has 6 open judicial seats. As such, the Commission is hard at work selecting candidates to recommend to the Governor to fill those seats. KZA is thankful for Gregg’s commitment to the Commission’s important work.
