Nevada Issues Information Regarding COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters
November 10, 2021
Last week, the Nevada Health Response issued a NV COVID-19 “Playbook Brief” to address eligibility for COVID-19 vaccine boosters. The guidance explains in detail who is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine booster in Nevada.
The guidance stresses that “[e]ligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may prefer the vaccine type they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix-and-match dosing for booster shots.” It also clarifies that booster doses do not impact the definition of fully vaccinated; as such, “[e]veryone is still considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna), or two weeks after a single dose vaccine (e.g., Janssen/J&J).”
We recommend that employers review this document to determine whether your workers are eligible for boosters as a part of your efforts to protect your workforce and encourage vaccination.
