EEOC Provides Restaurants and Other Food Service Employers Information on ADA Compliance

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC") and the Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") have teamed up to address health, safety and discrimination concerns. This joint effort has resulted in the EEOC's recently released enforcement guidelines entitled "How to Comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act: A Guide for Restaurants and Other Food Service Employers." The guide is designed to assist such employers in achieving compliance with the employment provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Available online at both and, the guide also covers such topics as the types of reasonable accommodations, including the use of service animals; and what an employer should do if a charge of discrimination is filed against his or her business.
